Context
At Straus Digital Media in Pleasantville, NY, I was a founding member of the engineering team—title Senior Web Designer—behind 10Coupons.com (also known as 10LocalCoupons), a network of city-branded sites such as 10NashvilleCoupons.com and 10CharlotteCoupons.com. The product had to feel local to each market while remaining one scalable application.
Challenge
Three audiences needed distinct, high-quality experiences from the same codebase: local consumers collecting deals, small-business owners creating and managing offers, and independent advertising representatives running a sales motion. Branding, self-serve tools, and reporting all had to scale across hundreds of markets without a one-off site per city.
Process & Approach
- 01
Conceptualized branding, UI, and UX for a locally branded network that could stamp 300+ city identities onto a shared platform.
- 02
Partnered with senior developers to implement interactive, scalable front-end interfaces on Django and Python.
- 03
Designed unique tools for sales, self-serve coupon creation, ecommerce, reporting, and email distribution.
- 04
Built marketing and recruiting surfaces that explained the independent-rep model without looking like multi-level marketing.
- 05
Used Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML, CSS, jQuery, and AJAX to ship production UI—not just comps—across consumer, merchant, and rep dashboards.
